SEU Now Offers Doctor of Ministry Fully Online

Southeastern University in Lakeland, Florida, is now offering pastors and ministry leaders a more flexible and accessible path to obtain a Doctor of Ministry degree with a new, fully online option.

Unlike the cohort model, which also requires some in-person attendance, the fully online format enables students to begin pursuing their doctorate through SEU’s Barnett College of Ministry & Theology in spring, summer, or fall. And coursework can be completed at individual students’ own pace as they balance ministry, family, and life.

Steve Gambill and his wife, Charlotte, have been pastors for more than 30 years in the United Kingdom and now reside in the United States with their two children. He is a current DMin student.

“When I began exploring doctoral programs, what set SEU apart was the ability to study remotely,” Gambill stated in an SEU release. “I didn’t have to step away from the position God called me to. Instead, I could continue serving my church while being equipped with new skills. That balance has been incredibly beneficial.”

The fully online SEU Doctor of Ministry degree offers peer and faculty engagement through virtual group meetings, mentorship, and collaboration with other ministry leaders in addition to a spiritual formation retreat that can be attended online or in-person alongside hybrid cohort students.

Also, SEU has integrated two tracks into the DMin program — leadership and missiology. The missiology track is for students called to global missions and was previously a standalone degree.
